My #teacher5aday pledge

You know how important wellbeing and self care is, or you wouldn't be reading this on this site. But how to prioritise it and fit it into you daily life and stick to it is another matter. That's why I like #teacher5aday so much.

It breaks it down into manageable things that are the really important things for your wellbeing. It's important to remember that you don't have to do all 5 of these every day, obviously the more you can do the better. But it is more about being aware of the areas and trying to fit as many of them as you can into your routine.

School leaders may also want to have a think about how easy it is for their staff to acheive these? Are the working practises in your school giving staff the ability to look after their wellbeing? Can you lead by example and do more of them, share what you do in staff meetings? Have a #teacher5aday board?

My pledge is this

#notice - to do daily gratitudes as I am trying to get to sleep

#exercise - run twice a week and synchronised swimming once a week

#volunteer - volunteer with synchro, Vigo Runners, #teacher5aday and #EdWellbeingGoals

#learn - be brave enough to teach myself new things instead of outsourcing them

#connect - make plans to see a friend every week
